What is a vision board?
A vision board is a tool used to help you stay focused on goals you have for your life. It is a board where you display pictures that represent your goals.
What will you need to create a vision board?
There are many suitable “boards” you could use for your vision board: foam board, poster board, cork board…I’ve even used a large picture frame.
You will also need:
- stack of old magazines, or photos printed from the Internet
- glue, tape, or push pins
- decor items (ribbon, pins…anything that inspires you)
Think of what you want to accomplish over the next year and over your lifetime. Make a list of those things.
A great way to take your vision board a step further is to look at your list and jot down three ways you will achieve each goal.
Example: I want to make time to juice my breakfast.
How will I accomplish that?
1) Set my alarm to wake me up five minutes earlier.
2) Keep fruits, veggies, and coconut water (my preference) prepped and ready to use.
3) Set out my to-go cup by the blender so everything is ready for me in the morning.
Look through the magazines for pictures that represent each goal on your list. Cut or print out the pictures.
Example: If you want to travel to a specific place such as France, your pictures might be of an airplane, a passport, and the Eiffel Tower..
If you are like me, you may not have many magazines laying around. No worries. Look for pictures on the internet, download them and print them on your home printer or send them to print at your local one hour photo lab (my preference, saves my ink!)
I used foam board for this project, but I covered it in brown craft paper. Then I wrote the quote I chose at the top of the board.
Organize your pictures on your board. You may choose to cover every inch of the board with pictures, or leave space for embellishments or handwriting encouraging words.
Once you are happy with the placement, pin the pictures with thumbtacks. You could also tape them, glue them, or use mini clothes pins like I did.
Display your vision board somewhere you will see it everyday, somewhere you will feel inspired when you see it.
Hope your vision board serves as a daily reminder to “plan your work and work your plan” in order for you to live the life you dream of!
